City professionals go coast to coast for Christian Aid

A team of enthusiastic cyclists are preparing for a gruelling 140 mile coast to coast challenge, as they make their way between Workington (Cumbria) and Sunderland , in just 18 hours, all to raise money for Christian Aid.

Not one but two for Smith Craven

Amongst the team is Andy Cribb, Managing Partner of  Smith Craven Chartered Accountants, alongside Mark Serby, partner and head of employment and litigation at solicitors Wake Smith and school teacher Phil Bateman.

The team of cyclists are supporting Christian Aid, hoping to raise £1500, with this gruelling cycle across the Pennines.

Andy Cribb said:  “I completed the same route with the family in 5 days around 7 years ago so our quest to complete in just 18 hours will really push the team to the limit.  I'm sure it's going to be tough as we hit the high Pennine  peaks but it will be worth it to know that thanks to all our generous supporters we will be helping Christian Aid to make a real difference to the lives of those not as fortunate as ourselves.”

“Thankfully Phil Bateman represented Great Britain at the 1988 Seoul Olympics so we have an expert cyclist in our midst to help with training and morale.”

Mark Serby, Wake Smith added:  “This challenge will be tough – the changeable weather across equally irregular terrain makes even the most enthusiastic cyclists weak at the knees.  But we’re all keen supporters of Christian Aid and wanted to do something to support the positive work they do to help those out of poverty, as opposed to those in poverty.
